The scenic Alexandria area has much to offer. Formed by the receding of at least four major glaciers nearly 20,000 years ago, the Alexandria Lakes Area is dotted with 300 lakes, rivers, forests, meadows and rolling hills, each contributing to the recreational bonanza enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.

This diverse region offers thirteen public and one private golf course; indoor and outdoor tennis courts; hunting; boating and fishing from your own dock, to slip rental, to public launching; alpine and cross-country skiing; over 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails; indoor and outdoor skating areas; numerous antique, specialty, and other gift shops; quality entertainment, including a professional summer stock theatre; formal and family dining; and much, much more.

Alexandria has more than 150 clubs and organizations, including a very active Newcomer's Club.

The Lakes Area offers the best of all worlds, unlimited access to the outdoors, small town safety, and hospitality. It's a great place to raise a family!
