Brenton Engineering donation supports Alexandria Area High School Technology Academy

Jan 10, 2014

Brenton, a local packaging machinery manufacturer, announced today that it will donate $75,000 to the Alexandria Area High School Technology Academy. The financial contribution during the construction phase of the new facility will support precision machining equipment not currently available to the students in the referendum funding.

Funding for the donation comes from Brenton’s parent company ProMach, Inc. At the heart of ProMach’s values is being a strong corporate citizen and supporter of communities in which it operates. “We are a firm believer in giving back to the community in which we operate and are excited to invest in the Alexandria community to support the growth of technology, education and our industry,” said Mark Anderson, ProMach President and CEO.

In 2011 voters in the Alexandria, MN school district voted in favor of a $65M referendum to replace the existing high school. In addition to the new facility, the school district will implement an academy approach to learning at the high school level. The academy model allows for students to choose from 3 primary areas of interest: Engineering and Technology, Health and Human Services and Business and Communication.

“I extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the hardworking employees of Brenton. Their commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction every day help make it possible for our company to donate,” said Ryan Kirksey, General Manager, Brenton. “We are pleased to help the Alexandria Area High School Technology Academy with the most charitable donation possible.”

As Brenton’s business has expanded over the years so has its community support. In 2013 Brenton, along with support from ProMach, has been able to fund 25 financial gifts to support the local YMCA – Phase II Capital campaign, and programs including the Harmon Killebrew Hospice Foundation, United Way, and local area school activities. Other initiatives also supported by Brenton include the annual Brenton Scholarship program to recognize outstanding academic achievement among children of employees and also materials and expertise for a variety of community projects ranging from mentoring local robotics teams to providing a new stainless steel countertop at the local Elks lodge.
